Chitter & Chatter
Excerpt:
Chief Rebain wags a long finger
and cries out, as he looks through his loupe. ‘Don’t do this and don’t do that!’
He warns the monkey troupe.
It’s morning though, so they gather all they know - berries are plenty. No need to hoard because
the jungle’s never empty.
But food isn’t clearly laid bare,
as bugs shelter from rain showers,
they must forage here and forage there, under eaves of leaves and in flowers.
‘Whilst Chief Rebain chants aloud: ‘Keep your mouths shut,
Cover your ears.
Hide your eyes,
and you’ll have no fears.’
Maya and Alix take it all in then chatter it straight out.
